The Minister of Commerce, Hon Simon Power, introduced the Insolvency Amendment Bill (the Bill) to Parliament on 9 March 2009. The Bill proposes to make changes to the Insolvency Act 2006. More specifically, the changes proposed relates to the No Asset Procedure (NAP), insolvent gifts and the NAP and Bankruptcy public registers under that Act.
The proposed new laws are anticipated to be enacted later this year.
To raise awareness of the changes to be made to the Insolvency Act 2006 when the Bill is enacted, the Insolvency and Trustee Service will publish an information series focusing on the different aspects of the Bill.
The final instalment of the Insolvency Insight series focuses on fraudulent debts.
